Brief description and aims of work

The University of Turku is a research-led university and internationally acknowledged expertise from humanities to medicine and natural sciences. It is one of the leading universities in Finland and offers study and research opportunities in seven faculties: Humanities, Mathematics and Natural Sciences, Medicine, Law, Social Science, Education and Turku School of Economics. Total enrolment of students is 21,000 and each year about 1,000 international students study at the University.

 

The RightTimePlaceCare –project is located in The Department of Nursing Science, in the Medical Faculty. The Medical Faculty in the University of Turku is one of the largest in Finland, including education for medicine, dentistry, nursing science and biosciences.

 

The Department of Nursing Science was established in 1986; it educates masters and PhDs in nursing science and has a strong research program. The Department is the most efficient among health sciences in Finland, based on recent evaluations. It has a lot of experience in international research collaboration and doctoral education. The Department is leading the Finnish National Doctoral Programme in Nursing Science. One out of three masters’ programs is in the field of gerontological nursing science and research is focused on rehabilitation nursing, including research in organizations and clinical interventions. www.med.utu.fi/hoitotiede/en/
